These have been sitting in my TBR on my iPad for … years? And after my recent re-read binge of all the novels, I thought I’d knock these out too.
They’re all about what you’d expect from a novella; too short to get into any character development or conflict, just short, happy little mysteries with tidy endings, but they’re fun to read and one or two loose ends from the main body of the series are wrapped up.
I am still bummed that the publisher dropped this series. I prefer it to Veronica Speedwell, although I do enjoy those.
I had no idea the publishers dropped this series – I’m retroactively angry now that I do know; I really enjoyed this series, especially her family’s eccentricity.
I saw an interview with Deanna Raybourn, or maybe it was on twitter. I’m not sure if she’s still on twitter, but if she is, she was delightful.
I saw her speak on a panel at Bouchercon a few years ago, and she was a lot of fun. That’s where I first learned that Veronica Speedwell’s character is based on the real-life history of Margaret Elizabeth Fountaine.
